Lorraine advises Ed not to get too involved, afraid that her vision of Ed’s death will come true. When Janet exhibits further symptoms of demonic possession, the storey reaches the Warrens, who are asked to help in an investigation to determine if Janet’s possession is real or not. Wilkins says he loves tormenting the family and wants to regain his home during the possession. Janet is possessed by the elderly man Bill Wilkins, who previously lived and died in the building, as the media tries to interview the family. Janet begins to sleepwalk and has hallucinations in which she converses with an entity in the form of an enraged elderly man who sits in the family’s armchair and claims ownership of the property.Īll of the Hodgson brothers, as well as their mother Peggy, are eventually witnesses to paranormal phenomena, which scares them into finding shelter with their neighbours. She is drawn to the basement by the ghost of one of the murdered children, where she meets a demonic nun figure and sees Ed being impaled, terrifying her.Īfter Janet, the second-oldest of four daughters, plays with a ouija board she built with her friend Camilla, the Hodgson family starts to encounter unusual phenomena in their home in the London suburb of Enfield in 1977.
